was really disappointed with this years design of the temporary pavilion at the serpentine – a grey hard box with very little interesting lines and spaces – it felt cold and hard, and the dry bare grass of the park seemed to just emphasise its harshness. however its still a great annual design project to look forward to seeing and i guess some years are better than others. it may just be my opinion and I bet lots of people really like this years design. take a walk to the serpentine cafe and see the even more stranger sculpture made by Christo – made entirely of barrels its one big bright block right in the middle of the lake. again I was not taken by this sculpture – the big bulky structure looked heavy and the colours so bold and bright in such a lovely green london space – felt too Jeff Koons for me.
