its that time of year, birthdays and xmas parties, so i seem to have been to a lot of different restaurants other than my usual handful. a friend recently took over locanda locatelli for a big birthday – i forgot what a lovely warm comfortable atmosphere it is in there, plus the food is delicious and not your usual italian fare. hakasan was somewhere the kids have wanted to go and we haven’t been since it first opened, and so that was my birthday treat- the food was very good, expensive – my only gripe is its noisy and busy and felt like a nightclub – which i guess when you are young like my kids is more fun! the colony grill room is another restaurant belonging to the woolsey group, just opposite selfridges and is a grown up hark to the past. its an easy all day menu- and is a great comfy place to stop by for breakfast or brunch.
