edmund de waal

everyone is visiting the RA for Ai Weiwei, but the other 2 exhibitions are just as interesting;  the white project curated by Edmund de Waal is staged in the glorious RA library and print room – an exploration in white and all its shades, it includes works by Morandi, Whiteread and Twombly;  its a bit like hide and seek in there, spotting where the objects are displayed amongst the beautiful collection of books – you need to book beforehand as there are only 25 people allowed in at any one time, but its worth visiting just to see the beautiful rooms.

if you love paintings and the art of detail, then you must visit the next door Jean – Etienne Liotard exhibition – at first they look like standard 18C portraits, but look carefully at the chalk and pastel drawings, the incredible detail on the lace patterns and you will be in awe.  and so i came straight home and rebooked my evening drawing classes – practice can only make perfect!
