lover’s locks

In a trend that is believed to have begun in Rome a few years ago, young lovers inscribe their initials on a padlock, attach it to a bridge railing and throw away the keys as a symbol of eternal passion.  of course, the accademia bridge in venice attracts many of these padlocks, as venice is definitely one of those romantic spots.  i didnt realise that it was a trend throughout europe – paris had its own bridge full of padlocks.   i wonder if this happens in london?

love the idiosyncratic stalls near cadiz fish market – there is one that seems to sell everything from padlocks to keys and key rings, alongside the lovely dried figs and herbs.
