a whole spate of new restaurants have cropped up in my area and in the past few months, i was lucky enough to try some of them out ; we are all aware of how upmarket kings cross is becoming, and although i have had coffee at the grain store, i had never eaten there – its a lovely healthy orientated menu, so perfect for meeting girlfriends!
salia took robert and i for our anniversary to chiltern firehouse – we actually went for sunday brunch, which was an odd brunch menu, more dinner style with a few typical egg brunch choices; i have heard so much about the firehouse and was intrigued as to why its so popular – its quite american in style, quite pricey, the food is tasty and fortunately they have kept features that remind you of the original fire station – the bar area actually looks more cosy and in the summer the courtyard would be great to sit in. incidentally salia is my friend who rents out her paris apartment, which comes available to rent again after march.
fischers is on marylebone high street and is the new viennese style restaurant/brasserie by the same group who own the woolsey – its reminiscent of the 20’s style of old school glamour – the toilets are fab, though i did keep opening the broom cupboard door in the confusion of mirrored doors! good place to meet for breakfast and more likely to get a table.
i also went to the peasant, i only had lunch but the restaurant comes highly recommended and the room upstairs is a great place to book if you want a party. i love the original old tiles in the downstairs area, but with the open fires its a welcoming pub.
