curtains and fabrics

looking for curtains for my daughters room – its been so much work, another child leaves home, and there is a swap around in the whole house – and then you realise that actually the rooms need a bit of decorating and painting!  i thought about making them myself, spurned on by the great choice of colours in fabrics  from warris vianni and co – the cottons and silks were dyed in beautiful shades of blues and mauves, subdued, but still with colour.   there were some beautiful embroidered indian cushions too.  the cloth shop also has a great choice of cottons – the swedish linens come in a lovely range of colours.  designers guild also has a variety of fabrics in lovely colours.

i also popped into zara home, and was pleasantly surprised to see such a wide range of household accesories – a lot of it very pretty and well made.  its so opposite to ikea with its simple basic range – there are engraved glasses, tea lights, baskets for storage and some lovely voile curtains.   its worth a visit if you want to pretty up a bedroom inexpensively.  laura ashley is also worth considering.   but where i ended up buying some ready made curtains was from good old john lewis – they had a good choice of simple curtains, ready made, lined and in a choice of lengths and widths – just what i needed for a girls bedroom.
