cagnes sur mer

another plus to st paul de vence is that its very close to the sea – we chose to eat lunch at cagnes sur mer, a small town by the sea – in fact its where renoir chose to spend his last years painting;  it was definitely more down to earth than the big sprawling beaches of nice.  it was actually a bit of a shock to walk down the busy promenade of nice, lined with its big brash hotels.  apparently antibes has a lovely beach to eat on, but we didn’t have that long before flying home – both nice and cagnes are less than 10 mins from the airport.
