stars

your back is mapped

with freckles, tiny moles,

stardust,

like some part of the heavens

we’ve yet to see.

they wheel in your eyes,

miniature dancing galaxies,

starflecks

I steer my heart by

to these bare beaches at midnight.

and if I look

long enough into your eyes,

moonbright and blue,

its your heart that I’ll fathom,

deep as love, vast as the starry darkness.
