i went to a 2 hour workshop on sat with my lovely friend debra to the iyengar yoga institute in maida vale – it was the first time that i had ever been to the centre and it was a lovely surprise to see such a light and peaceful space within a mainly residential area. it was beginners level, but as i havent done yoga for so many years its definitely worked my body. the class was taken by rosemary da silva, who has an amazingly calm and gentle way of teaching yoga. there were only 11 of us, so again this was a change to the much bigger classes at triyoga. in some ways, i still prefer pilates, but i definitely feel that yoga stretches parts of your body that pilates does not. its hard to motivate yourself to do exercise, but going with a girlfriend is always a good way to spur you on!
