my husband was working til late in soho and all his colleagues suggested dinner at Lima – the new Peruvian/Japanese fusion restaurant close by in Rathbone Street.  newly opened, it has had rave reviews, so we thought that we would give it a go.  neither of us  had eaten peruvian food before, so didnt know what to expect.  the menu read beautifully, almost poetical lines with many ingredients that i had never heard of, and a very limited choice;  the food arrived beautifully presented, almost like bits of artwork, food that was recognisable, but dotted with lovely splashes of colour and sprigs of herbs and fruits.  neither of us like ‘nouvelle cuisine’, but totally appreciate its art and labour, but strangely enough, the food seemed to taste pretty normal and palatable, despite its wondrous names.  its a modern interior with young pretty staff and seems to attract a fashionable crowd –  its definitely worth trying, but not sure that i would rush to go back there.
