i’m back from a whirlwind visit to whitstable, only to discover that this week is the whitstable oyster festival. all the wonderful food stores and vans just cements that whitstable is definitely a specialist of good local food. its a great time for a day visit, and especially with this amazing weather – it was the first time this year that i have seen everyone in the sea! take a walk from the harbour down towards seasalter – its a lovely walk and gets much quieter.
there are lots of pop up shops, like vintage verve, who also arranges the vintage and handmade fair, the next one is on 26th august in st mary’s hall, whitstable. i bought a couple of birthday gifts from frank, who has a beautiful show by Andrew Malone at the moment, who delicately cuts away at stamps, books, found objects to reveal interesting sculptural art pieces.
